It took me a while to figure out why I run. I think this is why:
- I run away from seeing myself as a physically weak person that is afraid of finding their way out there in nature.
- I run towards becoming more persistent and sticking to doing difficult things.
- I run because I love the space it gives me to think, listen to music, process emotions and even create. Things always happen inside during a run.
- I run because when it gets really tough, you can experience emotions and thoughts that are normally reserved for far more dangerous situations. Like meditation, when running, nothing really major is going on, but your mind can be subjected to great intensity. A lot about yourself can be learned from these states.
- I run because I love the feeling of freedom that’s available in putting on your shoes and going out the door into nature for hours. Particularly in long runs, or when running in new places, it always feels like an adventure.
