Some ideas for an effective socialism
- The path forward for socialism is wealth creation.
- Socialism needs to innovate in wealth creation. So far, it has either tried to appropriate or imitate capitalist wealth creation.
- Socialism can be much better at wealth creation than capitalism. In retrospect, capitalism will be considered extremely wasteful, just like we (rightly) consider Soviet socialism wasteful from a capitalist standard.
- Socialism must harness markets to create wealth. Markets are a means, not an end.
- The purpose of socialism is to create a settled society that permits equal or greater freedom than a traditional hunter gatherer society. Civilization has been a process of self-enslavement, but we are now within reach of completely reverting that.
- Our basic instinct for egalitarianism and taking care of each other always shines through. What gets in the way is political systems that enforce violence and justify it through security (physical and economic). A new type of socialism that delivers wealth can finally put to rest the economic argument for oppression.
- Socialism in the past century failed not because of lack of revolutionary fervor, or the relative strength of reaction. It failed because of the monstrosity of the means it used to pursue its ends. A socialism that focus on wealth creation can bring forward a path that aligns means with ends.
